Reclaimed Chic

I love the idea of using reclaimed materials!
This island has wonderful texture and color.
What I'm wondering is whether the lighting would
be adequate.  I don't see any recessed lighting.
I see is two pendants with direct lighting onto
the island.  Then there are sconces which are also
a source of direct lighting.  Seems like they
might need something for general ambient lighting.

What do you think?  Do you have a lighting
issue in your kitchen?

  1. Living in an old restored French farm house from the 18th Century with a large kitchen, we have lights from the 1950's. I love the so-called reclaimed lights from the 20th Century, particularly as an interesting contrast in either a high-tec modern kitchen or with old antique wooden elements and furniture.

  2. Oh by the way - forgotten to mention that it would make sense to install small spots into the ceiling for general lighting. k

  3. I really love the kitchen and the island. I am wondering too why there isn't any more lighting in the kitchen? It would seem that they would need some additional lighting.

  5. Had, HAD lighting issues before we renovated our kitchen now we might have to much light if that's possible. I agree with you that kitchen is wonderful but needs recessed lights. After not having them and now having them I'll never live without them again.

P.S. I just realized I don't have you on my blog roll but will fix that pronto!
