5 Star Hotel and 5 Star Designer

With Fall in full swing and Winter on the horizon, some of you may be planning a ski trip.
Montage Dear Valley is so special.  Even if you don't stay there, its worth visiting
for lunch in their downstairs bowling alley area.

The first few picture are of the hotel and the last few pictures are of a project that
Barclay Butera did for his client's home which is located near the Montage.  They
are both over-the-top beautiful.

Barclay Butera has a store in Newport Beach.  I love to stop in to see what the talented teams
have dreamed up.

Hotel Cheval in Paso Robles

It's only Wednesday and I am so ready for a mini vacay to Paso Roble's Hotel Cheval.

Paso Robles' finest boutique luxury hotel.

Located almost halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Hotel Cheval is located just off the charming and historic Paso Robles town square. Hotel Cheval offers a welcoming haven for travelers visiting California's Central Coast. We believe hospitality comes from the heart and our goal is to utterly surprise and delight our guests.
I love their motto, "to utterly surprise and delight our guests."

I am delighted by the ultra-charming pictures of their exterior architecture.  The interiors are warm,
inviting, and fresh.  This is a perfect destination any time of the year, but I think fall would be
particularly charming.  All the vineyards will be turning their fall colors--so beautiful.

With the days getting shorter, their patio with all the twinkling lights will be such a fun place
for a glass, or two, of your favorite wine.

Let's make a date...

Design Talent

Just discovered some design talent that is definitely worth sharing.

Jan Gardner & Associates has been based on the Monterey peninsula for over thirty years.

Gardner runs the company in conjunction with her daughter Julie Gardner.

Their website says that they are all about sophisticated styles, textural fabrics, well-built furniture,
excellent lighting and unique accessories.  Most of their buying is done in San Francisco
but occasional trips to Los Angeles, New York & Europe are not uncommon.

This project had great bones!

I love, love the staircase.  Do you have a favorite room?

Corque hotel and Root 246 restaurant

Welcome to California's central coast.

This uber-cool hotel is in Solvang--Danish Village in Santa Ynez Valley.

Solvang is actually where I had my first job at age 16.  My sister and I worked at the
glass blower's shop.  The owner was very young and would inappropriately tell his
young female employees that he was going in the back to do push-ups and
he didn't want us to sneak in the back and get underneath him.

He was probably lucky that he never got sued for sexual harassment.

Anyway, in spite of or maybe because of its colorful characters, this is a
fun place to visit.  This sleepy little valley is home to some real jewels.

The Corque hotel and Root 246 restaurant are worth taking a look at.

I can't wait to visit.  Have you been?

Better Late Than Never

So maybe I'm the last one to the party, but I just realized that
Raoul Textiles Factory is in Santa Barbara.

They are having a sale tomorrow.  So wish that I could go.

Their fabric just feels happy to me.

Always nice to find beauty and a bargain

It is fun that they are part workshop and part store.

How about this contemporary take on the classic blue and white?

 Fun and Fresh!

This little ottoman is so cute.

Another blue and white.  I can see this as a duvet cover and/or drapery panels for a bed.

Looks like the perfect weight for a slipcover.

Please tell me if you've ever used a RAOUL fabric.  How did you like it?

Happy Friday!
